Winning Habanero Hot Sauce Recipe

While we all like and enjoy various brands of bottled hot sauce some of us are looking to make our own hot sauce at home. If you are a lover of Habanero peppers, then this pepper sauce recipe is one you are going to want to try.  We think is pretty easy to make and is sure to score some points with your family and friends for taste.

2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1/2 cup onion, finely diced
1 1/2 cups tomatoes, finely chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large chili pepper, finely chopped
2 large Habanero peppers, finely chopped
1/2 cup white vinegar (plain vinegar)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons granulated sugar

In a large 3 quart saucepan over medium-high heat combine together the minced garlic, diced onion, chopped chili peppers and the chopped Habanero peppers. Cook this mixture for 4 minutes or until the onions are translucent and the peppers start to soften up. Turn the heat down to low and add in the chopped tomatoes, vinegar, salt, ground black pepper and the granulated sugar. You will to stir this mixture often so that it doesn’t stick and simmer over low heat for 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.

Pour the mixture into a large blender container and puree for 2 minutes or until the sauce is nice and smooth. Pour the mixture through a mesh sieve or through a food mill to remove any chunks that might still remain.

Let the mixture completely cool and then store in your refrigerator until ready to use. It should keep for up to 5 days refrigerated.
