Wimp Retardant X-Hot Sauce Review

The bottle feels like a pint of whiskey; the label resembles an old-fashioned label you might find on something from the 1800s; the name of the sauce is quite lengthy and just plain cool. These are a few of the obvious characteristics I thought I’d point out. Not one of them has a single thing to do with the taste of the sauce itself.

I love hot sauces. I’ve tried more than I can count. Wimp Retardant X-Hot Sauce is one of my favorites. First off, there is a blend of surprising ingredients here I’ve never seen in another hot sauce. That’s not to say they’ve never been used; I’ve just never seen them before.

While none of these ingredients stand out in the mix to the extent that you’d say, “Hey, I can taste that,” I get an overall flavor scheme from this sauce that I’m sure would be altered without the presence of these particular ingredients.

The pepper base is the delightful, loveable Habanero. As any self-respecting pepper enthusiast will tell you, the Habanero has a very specific taste. They’re hot for sure, but the taste of a Habanero shines through the heat. The same holds true for this “Butt Blazin’ Recipe #3.” The Habanero taste is right at the forefront. There’s also an apple cider vinegar base, celery seed, mustard, a little ginger, cinnamon, clove, allspice, bay leaf, a dose of red pepper, salt, and paprika. This combination of ingredients play nice together, creating a delicious sauce that won’t let you down.

The heat level won’t let you down either, if you like it hot, that is. What’s hot is subjective, of course. Different people handle different heat levels in different ways. This isn’t excessive heat, but it’s hot enough to make the tongue dance.

The aroma of this sauce is on the medicinal side. I would venture to say that a couple of drops on the tongue would make you forget about a severe headache. The texture of the sauce is not too thin, but certainly not thick. It pours well. You can see plenty of pepper seeds and other ingredients floating around inside the sauce as well, which adds to the overall taste.

I tried this sauce on tacos and in scrambled eggs. It was perfect for both. If you want something that leaves a warm rush of heat from your mouth to your belly and a pleasing taste on your palate, grab a bottle of this Wimp Retardant X-Hot Sauce to spice up anything bland that gets in its way.
