Thai Jalapeno Pepper Sauce Recipe

When it comes to Thai cooking and cuisine, one of the most popular hot sauces to use is a good homemade chili pepper paste not to mention their soy sauce and fish sauce.  But we have been seeing some requests coming in for a Thai Jalapeno Pepper Sauce so we thought we would check it out.

If you would like to try to make it yourself, here is a great recipe to use and it only takes a handful of ingredients that you can find on your local supermarket’s shelves. This pepper sauce is really delicious when used in traditional Thai stir-fry recipes.

2 large cloves garlic, minced
2 large Jalapeno peppers (stems & seeds removed, finely chopped)
1/4-1/2 cup granulated sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
3/4 cup tepid tap water
1/4 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Mince your garlic and chop up your peppers and then place the minced garlic, chopped peppers, granulated sugar, water, vinegar, salt and ground black pepper into a large blending container. Place the lid on top and process until mixture is smooth or at a consistency that you like.

Pour the mixture into a large 3 quart saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring often. Once the mixture has started to boil stir in the cornstarch. Turn heat down to medium and continue to simmer and stir until your hot sauce has thickened up. Once done, remove from heat and let cool. Pour sauce into an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
