Hey fellow Chili Heads!

This is “Atomic Eh?” bringing you another searing heat story! I am looking for the most “atomic “ sauce out there, and I want to share this one with you.

This stuff looks so hot that I had to ask my son to introduce it to ya!

Insane Chicken Fire Roasted Habanero Hot Sauce
Even the chicken is smoking!

I must say that the label is very intriguing. It shows a chicken with his beak smoking. I love it. Any sauce that makes me smile is a plus! But, I must say that as I approach the idea of opening the top I notice the red plastic wrap covering the top of the lid. Is this a warning to the user or just some more fancy packaging? Roasted Habanero peppers are first on the list. That is encouraging. There’s a quote on the side of the bottle that promises the user that, “This sauce will have you shaking your tail feathers and squawking for more,” we will see!

• This label is great! I give it a 4 out of 5 for interest and design.
My wife is cooking tacos as we speak and I must say I am looking forward to this sauce. Ok…I just opened it and smelled it and I am instantly HUNGRY!
Thank God my food is ready….

So, I did a spoon test….It had a bit of a sweet taste at the beginning and then the heat came on. I liberally covered my taco with it and began to eat before the burn stopped. As I got about ½ way through my taco, my mouth was burning and so were my lips. Great stuff! I must say, my wife who is a new chili head, took one tiny taste and said no way. I on the other hand just threw out one of my older sauces to make room for this one. I am going to use it. No funky aftertaste and the vinegar was very mild…not even noticeable. I couldn’t really taste the sauce in my taco but I did experience the heat.
• I give it a 3 out of 5 for being atomic and taste. Great every day sauce. It’s a keeper!

Well, my tail feathers have survived and I definitely want more. Insane Chicken has two more flavors for me and my family to try. Can’t wait. This bottle won’t last long so I will be ordering more soon. Is it atomic? Oh yeah baby!

So, this is “Atomic Eh?” telling you to keep it hot and keep it spicy!
Enjoy!

Mad Dog Inferno Reserve Hot Sauce – You can see the trouble waiting for you through the bottle. Mad Dog Inferno is dark brown with some blood or brick red overtones. You can see the concentrated pepper extract waiting for you — daring you — to give it a try. Unless you are bullet proof, this stuff should be used sparingly, and if you seriously want to taste it straight from the bottle, as I did, you need to limit your intake. I would not be going overboard telling you to sample with a toothpick. Seriously, that’s all you need to get the message.

The ingredients here are vinegar, molasses, concentrated pepper extract, garlic, jalapeno pepper, onion, habaneros, chile extract, clove, and some herbs and spices. With this much extract, you know it’s not for the innocent. Be absolutely careful when you use the sauce.

Taste wise, Mad Dog Inferno Reserve Hot Sauce comes on bold and strong. The extract delivers a sort of medicinal quality. Despite the other ingredients, flavor is not the strong point of this sauce. It’s heat. Mad Dog is created for those who like the pain.

I cooked two times with Mad Dog Inferno Reserve, both with the results I expected. I used it in a chili base and brought a pot of chili to a heat level that was unacceptable for all but the most ardent heat lover. The entire pot of chili handled about two teaspoons of this sauce and became something of a raging fire. My other experience with Mad Dog Inferno Reserve was as an addition to a rather bland barbecue sauce. The sauce was sweet. Adding the heat of Mad Dog Inferno not only notched up the barbecue sauce on the heat level, it did add a nice little flavor kick that went with the sweetness of the barbecue sauce. I used it on chicken breast and had a really good meal.

My advice is simple: cook with Mad Dog Inferno Reserve Hot Sauce if you must. Don’t try using it unless it’s heavily diluted and you’re going for a fire bomb.

Great White Shark Predator Hot Sauce – Like the predator this sauce is named for you, it creeps out at from the swirling dark blue waters to attack. I really expected a fairly mild heat level to this one and was surprised to find that its bite is as deadly as the Great White Shark’s.

The burn here is slow and almost sensual. It begins with a sharp hit, then backs off to allow you to enjoy the taste of the sauce, then it begins building again, until you find yourself wiping the sweat from your brow. That first taste and this experience are worth the price of a bottle.

Check out the ingredients here: wine vinegar, habanero pepper, pepper extract, tomato, mustard, pineapple, papaya, banana, sugar, and real fruit juices. This is a masterpiece of ingredient combination. As I’ve already stated, the heat is something any hot head will appreciate, but the way these ingredients are played together is an orchestra of the highest caliber. This is a sauce I can get behind.

Finding ways to use Great White Shark Predator Hot Sauce isn’t a problem. Put it in your chili, in soups, as an additive to meatloaf, or in addition to other sauces. Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, as a dip for my sausage . . . this is a truly enjoyable taste experience.

I plan on keeping this sauce on my shelf. It embodies what I believe a hot sauce should . . . expert use of ingredients to create something hot, tasty, and functional on a lot of different food. Consider jumping in the ocean and letting the Great White Shark take a bite of your taste buds. You’ll appreciate the well-crafted beauty of this sleek predator.

Mad Dog 357 Hot Sauce – 357, 000 on the Scoville heat scale. That’s damn hot. The label has a long list of terms of agreement before you use this sauce. That’s because Mad Dog sauces are violently hot. If you’re one of those guys or girls that like pain, this is a sauce for you.

I’ve tried it alone and with foods. Even as an additive to other foods, Mad Dog 357 is only marginally workable, and then only if you have enough common sense to use it in moderation.

There’s not a whole lot to this sauce. Vinegar, chile extract, cane juice, habanero peppers, garlic, onion, and cayennes that measure 160,000 on the Scoville chart themselves. This combination of ingredients can only be hot. There’s nothing in it to balance the heat. Taste is not what’s important to anyone who uses this sauce. Cooking with fire is.

As a food additive, as I stated earlier, Mad Dog 357 Hot Sauce works. Add it to chili, soup, and stew in moderate doses and you’ll be okay. It will elevate the heat level of whatever you’re cooking. I added it to a base hot sauce for my chicken wings and ended up with wings that were almost too hot to eat. I used it in moderation at that.

Some hot heads are simply into the fire. The ingredient list doesn’t matter, so long as it contains plenty of hot peppers. This is their sauce. Mad Dog 357 is high-caliber ammunition meant to wipe out anything it touches with a barrage of heat-inducing bullets. If you like your heat over the top and unstoppable, Mad Dog 357 is a sauce to keep on hand.

Wimp Retardant Hot Sauce – Actually, the full name of this sauce is Professor Payne Indeass’s Butt Blazin’ Recipe #3 Wimp Retardant Hot Sauce, but that seemed like an awfully long title for a review. The old-timey label features a man, presumably Professor Payne Indeass (get it?) himself, arms outstretched with a bottle in his hand, a top hat on his head, and his mouth open wide. I can just imagine him saying “Step right up…” A crowd gathers around the edges of what appears to be a picture frame. I like that the label leaves about an inch and a half of the back of the bottle uncovered so that you can easily see the pepper seeds floating around inside. I rate the old-fashioned packaging 5/5. It creates the feel they seem to be going for.

Habanero peppers are the first ingredient. Other noteworthy ingredients include apple cider vinegar, mustard, bay leaf, ginger, allspice, clove, paprika, cardamom, and cinnamon. I rate the ingredient list 5/5. It sounds hot, herby, and delicious! I pour a little onto my plate. The paprika-reddish-orange colored sauce has a thin to medium consistency and a pleasing homemade look to it with hot pepper seeds, black pepper flakes, and plenty of other clearly visible herbs and spices throughout. I rate the excellent consistency 5/5. The scent is a pleasant vinegary mustard and habanero aroma with a kick. Focusing a little more, I can smell the assortment of delicious herbs lingering in the background. The scent has the same homemade feel to it that the consistency does, and I rate it 5/5.

I try a few drops of Wimp Retardant Hot Sauce on my grilled chicken sandwich. My first thought is that there is very little heat, but it sneaks up on you. Although it still doesn’t quite have the in-your-face heat you would expect from a sauce that has habanero peppers as the first ingredient. I consider the heat medium. The outstanding flavors are habanero and vinegar, and the apple cider vinegar gives it a pleasant sweetness. I rate the flavor 4/5, only because it leaves me craving a little more heat. I think this would be good on steak, in salsa, as chicken basting, or on pork roast. It would work very well with almost anything that you want sweet and medium hot with that lovely homemade feel. So while I can’t say whether this will be hot enough to keep wimps away, I can say that this nostalgic sauce is a delicious addition to my hot sauce collection.

Widow Hot Sauce – First of all, if you have forgotten what the bottle looked like when you placed your order, you will likely be quite startled as, while unpacking your order, you find a big black spider on the bottle. Not on the label — on the bottle! It’s plastic, of course, but the two seconds it took me to process that fact were quite disturbing. The yellow, black, and red label also features a black widow — with the distinguishing red hourglass on her belly — sitting in a web. Blood drips from both her fangs and from the words “Widow” and “No Survivors.” There is also a warning that reads, “Extremely HOT SAUCE. Use one drop at a time!” I give the dramatic, attention-getting label 5/5. You really can’t help but notice it — and perhaps wonder whether you are up to the challenge.

Considering the brutal-looking bottle, it comes as no surprise that the first two ingredients are habanero peppers and “assorted hot peppers.” Otherwise, the ingredient label is surprisingly short, consisting of soy sauce, Worcestershire, vinegar, garlic, capsaicin, and xanthan gum. Looking at this list, I’m wondering whether I will able to taste anything at all over the heat! I rate the ingredient list 3/5. It looks impressively hot, but I like to see other vegetables in addition to hot peppers. When I open the cap and cautiously take a whiff, it smells hot! The predominant aroma is habanero and garlic, followed by Worcestershire. I rate the intimidating scent 4/5.

The consistency of Widow Hot Sauce is thin, which is crucial since anything this hot must be measurable in drops. Hot pepper seeds and chunks are distributed throughout the reddish-orange sauce, giving it a very nice consistency that I rate 5/5. I carefully place a single drop of Widow on a spoonful of chili. Ouch! I’m thinking I should have put one drop in the bowl of chili. I taste Worcestershire and garlic for about a second before the heat takes over. Estimated recovery time: about two minutes if you follow the directions, but if you overindulge, you could easily be looking at ten minutes or more of burning tongue, mouth, throat, sinuses, etc. Take the warnings on this one seriously. I rate the taste 4/5. It does have a good flavor, and it absolutely delivers the heat it promises. Widow Hot Sauce would be perfect for just about anything that you want ridiculously hot. A few dishes that come to mind are salsa, oysters, chicken wings, and, of course, screaming hot chili.

Habaneros, carrots, lime juice, onions, vinegar, and salt make up this sauce, with a pepper seeds worked in throughout for texture and added flavor.

Despite the name, this sauce isn’t intensely hot. It’s warm for sure, but it isn’t going to send anybody rushing to cool things down. What it is, however, is a finely crafted sauce with a delicate balance of its ingredients and a substantially good flavor.

Melinda’s XXXtra Reserve tasted great on tortilla chips with nothing else. I added a large quantity to avocado dip and found that it gave the dip not only a slight touch of warmth, but elevated it to another level of palate-pleasing goodness that left my family and me licking the bowl.

This sauce is also the perfect companion for breakfast. I used it on my scrambled eggs, dipped my bacon in it, and made it the centerpiece for my Mexican breakfast burrito.

There are times I’m in the mood for a sauce that won’t burn. Those are the times when I’m looking for good flavor and a little peppery warmth to complement my meal or my midnight snack. Melinda’s XXXtra Reserve Hot Sauce is perfect for those times. It’s a gourmet sauce that has an almost elegant quality about it, perfect as a table sauce or a party favorite.

Melinda’s Coffee BBQ Sauce – There’s an extremely complex set of tastes going on with Melinda’s Coffee BBQ Sauce. Being a coffee lover, I believe that coffee is a fine taste enhancer for just about anything, and barbecue sauce would have been high on my list of things to use it in. I wouldn’t have been wrong. Coffee is the perfect additive to a barbecue sauce, as Melinda’s Coffee BBQ Sauce very quickly establishes.

Melinda’s Coffee BBQ Sauce was inspired by the winning recipe in 2002 contest. It’s no wonder it was a winner. The complex tastes here are due to a wide range of ingredients that work well to enhance whatever meat you decide to barbecue with. The sauce works equally well with pork, beef, and poultry.

The ingredients include brown sugar, onions, molasses apple vinegar, and two full Melinda sauces, Melinda’s XXXtra Hot Pepper Sauce and Melinda’s Chipotle Sauce, both of which contain a variety of superb ingredients themselves. There’s chipotle and jalapeno peppers, line juice, carrots, habaneros, banana vinegar, mustard, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, and allspice. This massive combination of ingredients, along with the Costa Rican coffee, produces a thick, chunky sauce that has a sweet-smoky flavor so pleasing to the palate you’ll want to spoon it up and eat it.

I broiled a couple of t-bones and used Melinda’s Coffee BBQ as a dipping sauce. The medium rare steak dipped into this barbecue sauce tasted excellent. The flavor of Melinda’s Coffee BBQ Sauce is actually very much like an A-1 type steak sauce, but with better body and a sweeter note. I would probably use this sauce more along these lines than as a barbecue sauce.

If you don’t enjoy the taste of coffee, Melinda’s is still a good sauce to try. The coffee provides a flavorful foundation, but it isn’t like it is so featured that it takes away from any of the other ingredients. The coffee just seems to be a natural complement to meat.

Thinking this may be too adult tasting for kids, I let my son try it on a hotdog, straight from the bottle. He loved it. The sweet overtone was a big attraction.

If you find yourself looking for a barbecue sauce that truly is different from all the rest, Melinda’s Coffee BBQ Sauce is a treat. It’s unlike any other barbecue sauce I’ve ever tasted and versatile enough to use on a regular basis, either for barbecues or as a meat sauce on your plate.
