I could make this review very short by simply stating that Blair’s Death Rain Cajun Seasoning is the best chile pepper-based seasoning I’ve ever tasted. But I’ll reveal more. It’s worth it.

First of all, if it says Blair on the label, you know two things: it’s going to be good and it’s going to be hot. And Death Rain is definitely good and hot – and this is the medium version, too, though the label still says “Warning!” This delightful, burnt-sienna-colored spice blend is composed of cayenne pepper, garlic, onion, paprika, salt, celery seed, rosemary, oregano, turmeric, and sage. There are enough of them, believe me: Blair’s Mega Death Sauce with Liquid Rage, Blair’s Original Death Sauce, Blair’s Pure Death with Jolokia, and now Blair’s Ultra Death Sauce with Jersey Fury.

Blair’s Sudden Death with Ginseng – I’m a little confused about the addition of Ginseng to this sauce. it doesn’t nothing for the flavor or the heat. Maybe the folks at Blair’s just thought it would sound cool.

Blair’s has a whole line of hot sauces, including Blair’s Mega Death Sauce with Liquid Rage, Blair’s Original Death Sauce, and Blair’s Pure Death with Jolokia. Blair’s Sudden Death with Ginseng doesn’t bring a whole lot new to the table, minus the ginseng, which as I stated, I don’t get. with that aside, this is still one fine sauce.

Blair’s Mega Death Sauce – How much would you pay for a one-inch-tall plastic skull keychain? At Insane Chicken, they sell one for $9.95 and it comes with a free bottle of Blair’s Mega Death Sauce in a special limited edition “20/20” bottle that is 20% hotter than the usual formulation to commemorate 20 years of causing intense pain to its customers. When it arrives, enjoy the keychain; I’m not sure the sauce is meant to be enjoyed.

I never get tired of sauces made with peppers. Even though the name implies otherwise, you will definitely feel alive after even just the smallest amount of Blair’s Mega Death Hot Sauce. This is one of the hottest sauces on the market but not the spiciest for Blair’s which claims their Ultra Death is even hotter.

The bottle comes in a box and contains Blair’s signature skull keychain, which is proof positive that you survived death. The warning label proclaims, “Be warned: this sauce contains ingredients 500 times hotter than a jalapeno chile. Use sparingly. Not recommended for use without dilution.” Continue Reading

Although the label does feature a skull surrounded by fire, compared to most other hot sauces, the design comes off as that of a no-frills sauce that is not interested in overselling itself. Full disclosure: Blair’s Pure Death Hot Sauce comes with a free dangling skull key chain, which is one of the easiest ways to get a positive review from me.

That being said, the smell gives off an acidic, tomatoey essence despite completely lacking the fruit. Instead, the sauce contains Habanero Chili Pods, Naga Jolokia, Vinegar and Hawaiian red salt. Continue Reading

I have loved any and all hot food and hot sauce for what feel like a bazillion years, yet somehow I only recently found out about the “Blair’s Death Sauce” range.  Now I am wondering how on earth I survived any family dinner growing up without it.

I received my first bottle of this and liked it so much, I found myself running to buy another bottle a couple of days later before the delivery of some late-night pizza.  Blair’s Hot Sauce, awarded “Best Hot Sauce” at the 2002 Fiery Food Challenge, is a solid infusion of each and every one of the ingredients used.  Upon removing the cap, your first whiff reveals chilies, vinegar, and a touch of smoke (from the chipotle).  I actually sneezed twice after my inaugural bite.  The sauce also features ripe habaneros, cayenne chilies, chipotles, key lime juice, and crushed garlic.  Continue Reading
