Blair’s Death Rain Cajun Seasoning Review

I could make this review very short by simply stating that Blair’s Death Rain Cajun Seasoning is the best chile pepper-based seasoning I’ve ever tasted. But I’ll reveal more. It’s worth it.

First of all, if it says Blair on the label, you know two things: it’s going to be good and it’s going to be hot. And Death Rain is definitely good and hot – and this is the medium version, too, though the label still says “Warning!” This delightful, burnt-sienna-colored spice blend is composed of cayenne pepper, garlic, onion, paprika, salt, celery seed, rosemary, oregano, turmeric, and sage. Clearly, this mix is a foodie’s dream, delivering not just good heat but also a blend of delightful flavors that you’d probably want on your food anyway. Continue Reading

Hottest Hot Sauce – Scoville Scale for Worlds Hottest Hot Sauces

People are constantly asking what are the world’s hottest hot sauces for 2012 so we put together the list of the hottest hot sauces ever created. If you are a hot sauce lover then chances are you have heard of the Scoville scale and know how it is used.  But for the newcomers to the love of hot sauce, it is interesting to note how hot sauces are rated and how hot they really can get.

The Scoville scale is a measurement of the spicy heat (or piquance) of a chili pepper. It is named after its creator, American pharmacist Wilbur Scoville. His method, devised in 1912, is known as the Scoville Organoleptic Test. The number of Scoville heat units (SHU) in a particular pepper indicates the amount of capsaicin present. What is Capsaicin? It is a chemical compound that stimulates chemoreceptor nerve endings in the skin, especially the mucous membranes.   Continue Reading

Blair’s Ultra Death Sauce with Jersey Fury Hot Sauce Review

Blair’s Ultra Death Sauce with Jersey Fury – The sauce doesn’t even sound like it plays nice. I’ve had plenty of Blair’s ultra hot sauces. There are enough of them, believe me: Blair’s Mega Death Sauce with Liquid Rage, Blair’s Original Death Sauce, Blair’s Pure Death with Jolokia, and now Blair’s Ultra Death Sauce with Jersey Fury.

Just what the hell is Jersey Fury anyway?

Like all of the Blair hot sauces, this is over-the-top hot. It’s dangerous, simple as that. Blair sauces also have the distinction of tasting great on top of the heat. There are no preservatives, which truly does shine through when you taste the sauce. Continue Reading

Blair’s Sudden Death with Ginseng Review

Blair’s Sudden Death with Ginseng – I’m a little confused about the addition of Ginseng to this sauce. it doesn’t nothing for the flavor or the heat. Maybe the folks at Blair’s just thought it would sound cool.

Blair’s has a whole line of hot sauces, including Blair’s Mega Death Sauce with Liquid Rage, Blair’s Original Death Sauce, and Blair’s Pure Death with Jolokia. Blair’s Sudden Death with Ginseng doesn’t bring a whole lot new to the table, minus the ginseng, which as I stated, I don’t get. with that aside, this is still one fine sauce.

The ingredients include habanero pepper pods, cayenne chiles, pepper resin, clover, honey, Key Lime juice, and Siberian Ginseng. Continue Reading

Blair’s Mega Death Sauce Review

Blair’s Mega Death Sauce – How much would you pay for a one-inch-tall plastic skull keychain? At Insane Chicken, they sell one for $9.95 and it comes with a free bottle of Blair’s Mega Death Sauce in a special limited edition “20/20” bottle that is 20% hotter than the usual formulation to commemorate 20 years of causing intense pain to its customers. When it arrives, enjoy the keychain; I’m not sure the sauce is meant to be enjoyed.

Before you even open the bottle, the plethora of dire warnings suggest that it might be wiser to just stick with the keychain. Continue Reading

I Hate Peyton Manning Chili Recipe

I hate to see all of the Peyton Manning commercials… Talk about being over exposed.. Oh well, our buddy Peyton is the SuperBowl again and is probably the best quarterback of all time so I guess we have to give him credit for that. But, I still can’t see him on every commercial break during football season.

That being said here is our I hate Peyton Manning Chili Recipe.

Blair’s Ultra Death Review

If asked, most people would tell you that  New Jersey is known for its bad air, corrupt politicians, and overpopulation. What they probably wouldn’t tell you is that one of the hottest sauces in the known universe  got its start in a humble locale on the Jersey Shore.

Since the its inception in 1989 Bliar’s Hot sauces have become legendary among chili heads and now its founder Blair is out to restore his beloved state’s good name. As expected his revenge is manifested in the form of a hot sauce. His weapon of choice? Blair’s Ultra Death sauce… with Jersey Fury. Continue Reading

Blair’s Death Hot Sauce Review

I never get tired of sauces made with peppers. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about pepper sauce, dipping sauce, wing sauce, or barbecue sauce; if peppers are the point of the sauce, I want to know about it. Of course, the more individual a sauce, the better I like it. After you’ve used as many pepper-based sauces as I have, your palette becomes a bit jaded. It takes a special sauce to get a rise out of me these days.

Enter Blair’s Death Sauce. The name alone gives you an indication of what lies waiting for you within. As a bonus, the sauce comes with a skull key chain attached to the bottle, which, call me a kid, gave me a little rush of excitement. It’s hanging on my key chain right now. Continue Reading

Blair’s MegaDeath Hot Sauce Review

Even though the name implies otherwise, you will definitely feel alive after even just the smallest amount of Blair’s Mega Death Hot Sauce. This is one of the hottest sauces on the market but not the spiciest for Blair’s which claims their Ultra Death is even hotter.

The bottle comes in a box and contains Blair’s signature skull keychain, which is proof positive that you survived death. The warning label proclaims, “Be warned: this sauce contains ingredients 500 times hotter than a jalapeno chile. Use sparingly. Not recommended for use without dilution.” Continue Reading

Blair’s Pure Death Hot Sauce Review

Although the label does feature a skull surrounded by fire, compared to most other hot sauces, the design comes off as that of a no-frills sauce that is not interested in overselling itself. Full disclosure: Blair’s Pure Death Hot Sauce comes with a free dangling skull key chain, which is one of the easiest ways to get a positive review from me.

That being said, the smell gives off an acidic, tomatoey essence despite completely lacking the fruit. Instead, the sauce contains Habanero Chili Pods, Naga Jolokia, Vinegar and Hawaiian red salt. Continue Reading

Blair’s Sauces Give Back to Charity

Blair's 2am and 3am

Blair’s Death Sauce would not ordinarily appear to have anything to do with children. How could incredibly hot sauces make a significant difference for needy kids? Well, Blair Lazar, the creative founder of Blair’s Sauces and Snacks, has found a way to simultaneously spread the heat and create beautiful smiles.

Lazar proudly announces the launch of his all-new, next generation, series of collectible “2am” and “3am” Reserve Bottles. Fifty percent of all proceeds are generously being donated to SmileTrain (www.smiletrain.org), the world’s largest cleft lip and cleft palate charities, and one of Lazar’s favorite causes. Blair’s Hot Sauce Review

I have loved any and all hot food and hot sauce for what feel like a bazillion years, yet somehow I only recently found out about the “Blair’s Death Sauce” range.  Now I am wondering how on earth I survived any family dinner growing up without it.

I received my first bottle of this and liked it so much, I found myself running to buy another bottle a couple of days later before the delivery of some late-night pizza.  Blair’s Hot Sauce, awarded “Best Hot Sauce” at the 2002 Fiery Food Challenge, is a solid infusion of each and every one of the ingredients used.  Upon removing the cap, your first whiff reveals chilies, vinegar, and a touch of smoke (from the chipotle).  I actually sneezed twice after my inaugural bite.  The sauce also features ripe habaneros, cayenne chilies, chipotles, key lime juice, and crushed garlic.  Continue Reading

Blair’s Mega Death Hot Sauce Review

Blairs MegaDeath Hot Sauce

So, you think you’ve had a hot sauce before? Maybe it was the most painful looking option you could find in your local grocery store, something with claims of pain and horrible nights ahead on the bottle. The odds are it was surprisingly hot, but not nearly up to the task of destroying your tongue in the manner you expected. Enter Blair’s Mega Death Hot Sauce. This sauce claims a heat factor of over 500,000 scovilles, more than 500 times hotter than a Jalapeno. It’s not just that it’s so incredibly hot though. There are a few hot sauces out there that claim to be hotter – and for my money it doesn’t matter at a certain point. It’s about the raw kick in the butt this stuff will give you, regardless of the dilution you give it. Continue Reading
