As someone who religiously tops pizza with hot sauce and in turn dips the crust in barbeque sauce, Mad Dog’s Ghost BBQ Sauce and its promise to serve up an “intense BBQ experience” immediately intrigued me. I’ve had a few run-ins with Mad Dog’s Original BBQ Sauce in my day, but I’ve also found myself toeing the line with the ghost pepper (or Bhut Jolokia) as of late, a pepper that has a history of providing a hefty dose of spice and has caused my eyes to tear up on more than one occasion. Feelings about the ghost pep aside, Mad Dog has had my number for years, and it didn’t take a huge leap of faith for me to pour a generous amount of this new sauce on to my plate. And “pour” is the optimal word here – after a good shake, the sauce flowed out from the bottle’s wide mouth with ease and pooled into a puddle next to my pizza. There was nothing watery in the least about this sauce.

Upon dipping my first slice of pizza (chicken sausage with caramelized onions, ricotta and red sauce spread over a thing crust), I became an immediate convert from the Original version to the newer, spicier member of the Mad Dog BBQ family. The thick, rich sauce boasts a unique, smoky flavor with hints of garlic and tomato that is complimented by the heat of the pepper, rather than overpowered by the spice. While I chose to douse my pizza in it, the sauce would make a dynamite burger on a hot summer night, or the perfect chicken marinade. Plus, the label boasts all natural ingredients – so really, everybody wins (unless you hate BBQ sauce, in which case, why are you still reading this review?).

Overall: an intense but extremely enjoyable experience that restored my faith in the ghost pepper and made me a further believer in Mad Dog.

Sweet and sour barbecue sauces have been popular in Chinese Cuisine for years but it has gained a lot of popularity in American Cuisine the past several years. It might seem difficult to make this type of sauce but it is actually easy. Here is a recipe that you will want to keep on hand for a quick and easy Sweet and Sour BBQ Sauce that you will find yourself reaching for time and time again.

Sweet and Sour BBQ Sauce Recipe

1/3 cup vinegar
3-4 tablespoons brown sugar (depending on how sweet you like the sauce)
1 1/2 tablespoons catsup
2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 4 teaspoons tap water
1 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce

In a glass measuring cup mix together the cornstarch with the tap water until it has dissolved. Set aside. In a medium saucepan combine together the vinegar, brown sugar, catsup and soy sauce and bring the entire mixture to a full boil stirring constantly so that it doesn’t scorch. Turn heat down to medium and stir in the cornstarch mixture. Continue to simmer over medium heat until the mixture has thickened, stirring often.

This is a delicious recipe to use with meatballs, pork or chicken. It is nice and thick so it will grab on your foods well and the flavor is delicious. You won’t go wrong when serving this as a side dipping sauce or as a coating on some yummy BBQ.

One of the best things around to slow cook on the grill and smoker are spare ribs. Pork spare ribs are so juicy and delicious when cooked the right way. Slow cooking them on the stove works great too and especially if the weather is terrible. Patience is a virtue when it comes to ribs.

Here is an easy recipe for a Spare Ribs BBQ Sauce Recipe that you can cook on the stove if you don’t want to smoke or grill them.

3 1/2 to 4 lbs. pork spareribs, uncooked
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of soy sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup dry sherry
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

In a large cooking pot add the pork spareribs to the vegetable oil, turning often until all sides are lightly browned. You might have to cut down the ribs to get them to fit into your pot. Remove ribs and drain off the vegetable oil. Stir together in the pot the soy sauce, brown sugar, dry sherry, salt and ground black pepper. Add ribs back in and stir until ribs are well coated. Place lid on the cooking pot and cook them over low to medium low heat for several hours until very tender. You can cut your cooking time in half by simmering them over medium heat. Watch them closely because of the sugar and stir them occasionally to keep them from sticking to the bottom of the pot.

This is an easy recipe that will give you the delicious BBQ Sauce taste with the convenience of staying inside. Enjoy

I know a girl named Bethany and she rarely has the blues, so I knew this sauce wasn’t hers. Actually, it comes from Bethany Beach in Delaware. As far as beaches go, you don’t hear about Bethany Beach all that much, but you should hear about this grilling sauce because it’s quite nice. Flexible, too, since while it’s called a grilling sauce, on the side of the label it’s referred to as a “dipping sauce and marinade for grilled or smoked pork, beef, seafood, chicken or wild game.”

That sounds nearer to the target because Bethany Blues Papaya Grillin’ Sauce has very little in the way of viscosity going for it. In other words, it won’t coat a piece of meat on a grill the way a traditional barbecue sauce would. But with it’s acidity from tomatoes, vinegar, and lime juice, and its papaya fruitiness, it does make a richly flavored marinade that will work its way into the fibers of your raw animal flesh.

Bethany Blues is composed of a small selection of good, well-chosen ingredients: tomato concentrate, brown sugar, apple juice, corn syrup, vinegar, molasses, fresh squeezed lime juice, ripe papaya, garlic, salty, red pepper, anchovies, and natural spices. Surprisingly, it’s not overly sweet, the more savory ingredients (tomato, vinegar, garlic, anchovies) doing a good job cutting through the sweeter ones. As a result, it imparts great flavor that won’t overwhelm the natural flavors of the food you use it on.

I can see adding this to the sauce for a stuffed cabbage, especially with the vinegar and apple juice. My other’s recipe is based on guava jelly and chili sauce, and Bethany Blues would complement those ingredients very nicely. It’s actually the same consistency as tomato juice and if I had vodka in the house at the moment, I’d be tempted to make a Bloody Mary out of it. Not to flavor it, but to use it as the tomato juice component. I have a feeling I’m going to find lots of uses for this.

When it comes to barbeque sauces, trying new tastes and flavors of sauce is the best part of barbequing. Die hard BBQ fans loves to see what taste mixes well with the different meats and enjoy tweaking different recipes to find the perfect blend of spices and flavors.

This homemade raspberry chipotle barbecue sauce is great on a few racks of your favorite style ribs or brush some chicken in the barbecue sauce and grill the chicken until done. If you like your barbecue sauce with more of a hot kick, you can increase the chipotle chili peppers according to your own taste buds.

Homemade Raspberry Chipotle Barbecue Sauce Recipe

2 bottles of your favorite “plain” barbecue sauce
1 small can of chipotle chili peppers
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove of garlic, finely minced
1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 small jar of raspberry preserves (your favorite brand)

Place all of the above ingredients into a large blender container, place lid on top and process for 1 to 2 minutes or until well blended. Brush this sauce onto ribs and chicken and grill until your meat or poultry has been fully cooked.

This semi sweet, spicy and fruity sauce is so complex with all of the great flavors, you are going to be able to enjoy this on a variety of meats. It is easy to make and you will come back to this recipe time and time again.

Here is a nice twist on a delicious favorite BBQ sauce. This barbecue sauce is great on grilled chicken or try making some homemade chicken skewers or kabobs using this Peanut-Red Chile Barbecue Sauce Recipe. Once you have made the barbecue sauce you will want to baste your chicken in the sauce before grilling and during the grilling process. It can also be used as a chicken marinade and bake your chicken in your home oven until done.

Peanut-Red Chile BBQ Sauce Recipe

1 tablespoon canola oil (or use vegetable oil)
3″ long piece of fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped into small pieces
1 1/2 cups of your favorite barbecue sauce (store bought or homemade)
2 cups low-sodium chicken stock/broth
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup creamy smooth peanut butter (all natural peanut butter is best)
2 tablespoons chipotle in adobo puree
2 tablespoons smooth light honey
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

In a large sauce pan over medium to medium-high heat, heat up the canola oil and then stir in the chopped ginger and simmer until the ginger is soft. Turn up the heat a little bit and stir in the barbecue sauce, chicken stock and cook until the mixture cooks down by 50%. Stir in the soy sauce, smooth peanut butter, chipotle puree and the smooth honey and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes or until it has thickened.

With the sweet and savory seasonings along with the peanut butter, you will have a taste sensation unlike any other sauce. You can make it spicy by adding in some additional red chile peppers or using a spicy barbeque sauce as your base.

Hot wings are a favorite around here and we love to mix it up a bit by using different sauces that are available in the store or by creating our own sauce mixture. Today we are thinking about some Sweet Hot Wings for the weekend and so we are going to share with you some recipes so you can make your own sweet hot wing sauce from a recipe or just grab a bottle from the store.

If you like it sweet, start with a good sauce like Bone Suckin BBQ Sauce in either regular or the Hot and it makes a great base to start. This is a nice sweet sauce that has honey, molasses and it is a very versatile sauce that you and the kids are going to love.
And if you like sweet, hot sticky wings, here is an easy recipe that you can throw together quickly.

Sweet Hot Wing Sauce Recipe

Coat your wings and drumettes in vegetable oil. Toss together salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Rub your wings with the spices. Place them in a raised baking dish and bake them at 400 for 30-40 minutes depending on the thickness. Use a higher heat if you want them crispier. Remove them from the heat.

Toss in a bowl with ½ cup of the Hot Sweet Sauce like Bone Suckin BBQ Sauce and 2 tablespoons of butter. You can then return the wings to the oven on a cookie sheet and broil them at 500 for a few minutes until the sauce gets thick and sticky. Make sure to watch the oven as the sugar in the sauce can burn.

Sweet Rays BBQ Sauce has been a staple for many families for years. It is a very popular BBQ sauce brand here in America that has won numerous awards over the years. The company got its start back in 1985 and their products are readily available out in the marketplace.

Sweet Baby Ray’s sauce has a taste that is described as sweet, thick and with a nice kick but not too much heat to it. It is a great sauce for dipping, marinating, cooking with or just swabbing it on while Barbequing. It tastes fabulous with Beef, Chicken and Pork alike.

The Sauce is available in 6 delicious flavors:

* Sweet Baby Ray’s Original
* Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey
* Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory & Brown Sugar
* Sweet Baby Ray’s Sweet & Spicy
* Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey Chipotle
* Sweet Baby Ray’s Sweet Vidalia Onion

Sweet Rays is also a great base for your own BBQ sauce too. You can add more peppers for additional heat, chipotle for more smoky heat or doctor it up however you choose. It would taste great on wings too with some hot sauce or wing sauce added in.

BBQ Sauces that are mellow and right in the middle of sweet and spicy are perfect for keeping around the house. They are very versatile in every way and are also great just the way they are too.

There is a big difference in the flavor of apple cider vinegar based BBQ sauce from the South and a traditional sweet tomato based BBQ sauce from the Midwest. Many people have definite opinions on what Barbeque Sauce is better and tell you too. Both are very popular in kitchen to make, but what we see on the grocery shelves is different. That is why so many people today are turning to their old tried and true, time tested recipes for great BBQ sauces.

Apple cider is a great addition to a sauce to offset the sweetness a bit. Here is a great recipe for a cider based sauce that you will enjoy on your pork and other meats.

Apple Cider BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:
2 cups white vinegar
2 cups apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 cup water
1/8 cup hot sauce
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. red pepper flakes
2 tsp. salt

Mix everything together in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over low heat and cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Some folks add in a small amount of Catsup for additional flavor. It will thicken it a bit. You can also add or reduce the water to get the flavor just right for you.
