Spicy Green Tomato Hot Sauce Recipe

Many people love the unique fresh taste of green hot sauce and it is becoming quite popular.  It is usually not quite as acidic as a red sauce making it a good choice for those that cannot handle the acids. In fact, using green variety tomatoes will also give it a touch of sweetness too.

Making your own spicy green hot sauce at home is a relatively easy process and you only need a few ingredients.   This one does not use vinegar and you can increase or decrease the amount of Jalapeno peppers to your liking. Once it is done, it will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Spicy Green Tomato Hot Sauce Recipe

3 large roasted Jalapeno peppers, chopped
4 large green tomatoes
1/4 cup fresh Cilantro, finely chopped
1 small clove garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon salt

Place the fresh green tomatoes in a saucepan with boiling water, blanch them to crack the skin and to soften them up. Remove and drain away the water. As soon as they are cool enough to handle, peel off the skins and rinse them under tap water to remove most of the seeds. Chop the green tomatoes into pieces and set aside.

In a large blender container or food processor, place the chopped Jalapeno peppers, chopped green tomatoes, chopped Cilantro, minced garlic and the teaspoon of salt. Place lid on top and process on medium speed for 2 minutes or until smooth.

This spicy green tomato hot sauce recipe is delicious to use as a salsa, a sauce for meats and any place you love to use your hot sauce.
