Spicy Cocktail Franks Recipe

Great appetizers or even a light dinner for the kids doesn’t have to be hard.  It also doesn’t have to take a whole lot of time to whip up something from scratch that is going to taste fabulous.  The great thing about building your own recipe is that you control the spice levels and can manipulate it to be exactly what your family and friends enjoy.

Here is an easy recipe for those cocktail wieners that are so popular for snacking.  We know you love it spicy and hot so feel free to add your favorite hot sauce liberally.  This is a quick and easy recipe that you will reach for time and time again for parties or for watching the game!

Spicy Cocktail Franks Recipe

1 cup catsup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 small clove garlic, finely minced
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1-2 teaspoons hot sauce (your favorite brand)
1 lb. pkg. cocktail sized franks

In a large saucepan combine together the catsup, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, black pepper and hot sauce. Simmer sauce over medium-high heat for 5 minutes, stirring often. Remove from heat.

Pour the sauce into a small to medium sized slow cooker and add in the cocktail sized franks. Stir gently to mix everything up. Slow cook on the low setting for 3-4 hours or the high setting for an hour.
