The ingredients include a tomato puree, vinegar, sugar, tomatoes, raisins, pineapple, jalapeno, onion, lime juice, salt, garlic, natural smoke flavor, and some green chilies for good measure. These ingredients come together in a surprisingly well-balanced blend that gives Roadhouse Texas Tango BBQ sauce a unique personality, combining both the classic taste of Texas barbecue with a sweet note.

I mentioned this is a chunky sauce. By chunky, I mean you could almost eat it as a meal. The ingredients are diced up and infused throughout the bottle of sauce so you get a mouthful of goodness in every bite. This is a sauce you actually have to chew.

While Roadhouse Roadhouse Texas Tango its purpose as a high quality barbecue sauce, suited well for chicken, steaks, and pork, it also makes a nice addition to meatloaf. The chunk texture add something special to meatloaf and elevates even the blandest specimen to something extraordinary.

There’s no real heat factor here, which surprises me for a Texas barbecue sauce. I would have preferred the chili peppers play a more prominent role in the flavor. Don’t let that turn you away, though, especially if you’re someone who can do without the heat. In fact this is a great barbecue sauce for someone who wants the bold characteristics of a Texas-style barbecue sauce without the typical kick of the hot peppers. Even granny can dig this one without being rushed to the hospital.

If you’re looking for a chunky sauce with a lot of staying power, Roadhouse Texas Tango BBQ sauce, with its jalapeno and hickory overtones, is the sauce I think you’ll enjoy.
