Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally Hot Sauce Review

Of all the humorous hot sauce titles I’ve come across in my day, Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally might be my personal favorite. In summery the story behind the name goes as follows: a bully named Chet, who committed unspeakable acts, was surreptitiously slipped a dose of hot sauce that burned so bad he exclaimed, you guessed it: “ well smack my ass and call me Sally.” Now thanks to the wonders of mass production, you too can feel Chet’s pain and maybe if your lucky scream hilarious things.

Tijuana Flats Hot Foods Inc. puts out an entire line of sauces under that name and they range from exceedingly dangerous to relatively mild. Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally Hot Sauce is the original, Continue Reading

Ass Reaper Hot Sauce Review

As my mother would say, I’ma gonna give it to ya straight: Ass Reaper Hot Sauce is one of the hottest sauces I’ve ever experienced.  No, not THE hottest sauce, but as of right now, it’s in my top three.  Your first clue as to what’s to come is that the Ass Reaper Hot Sauce bottle comes dressed as the Grimm Reaper, with a white skull mask and a hooded robe tied to the neck of the bottle.  Just in time for Halloween?  Not a chance.  Wicked ominous?  Definitely.

The label is a simple design, a black background with white and red text.  The body of a skeleton takes up the majority of space, with “Ass Reaper” scrawled in red across the bony pelvis.  Continue Reading

Buhba’s Butt Blaster X-Hot Sauce Review

Oh to be responsible for the creation of witty hot sauce brand titles!  The label for Buhba’s Butt Blaster X-Hot Sauce immediately appealed to my immature sense of humor while also causing me to roll my eyes.  The colorful cartoon label shows a boy sitting in an outhouse, steam coming out of his ears and eyes bugging out of his head, presumably due to the hotness of the liquid and his body’s reaction to the spicy “temperature.”

A mustard sauce with a thick consistency (I immediately thought of a curry sauce’s texture), a few drops of Buhba’s Butt Blaster X-Hot Sauce immediately produces a fiery taste that shoots through the sinuses.  I first tested the sauce using some left over crust from a by-gone cheese pizza Continue Reading

Black Swan’s Wing Commander Review

Black Swan’s Wing Commander wing sauce falls into the category of sauces you will either love or hate. Black Swan’s Wing Commander is billed as a spicy wing sauce, which it most definitely is.

There’s no heat here, but the sauce imparts a distinct Asian flavor personality that is sure to please anyone who has a taste for Asian cosine. The inclusion of honey, sesame seed, soy sauce, and fresh ginger attribute to the Asian characteristics, with mustard flour, salt, two types of vinegar (distilled white and malt), red peppers, and additional spices rounding out the ingredient roster.

Charlie’s Hard Times Hot Sauce Review

The shtick behind Charlie’s Hard Times Hot Sauce is that in these trying economic times, one shouldn’t have to settle or compromise in order to afford and enjoy their hot sauce.  I immediately liked where this was going.  “Don’t wait for the government to give you a bailout,” proclaimed the label.  “Bailout your bored taste buds with this sauce!”  The label features a broke broker drawn in an abstract style and a short narrative detailing that the products were designed to keep everyone in the sauce “until we get through this mess.”

Of course, some people might remember that “Hard Times” is a novel written by Charles Dickens, making this English major laugh at the down trodden figure front and center on the bottle’s label.  Continue Reading

Wing Sauce Leads to Arrest

A pizza delivery man was attacked for his pizza and wings early Saturday morning  February 6th, but the alleged thieves didn’t make as clean a getaway as they had expected — the morons left a trail of pizza and chicken wing sauce right to their front door.

Somewhere around 4 a.m. on February 6th, two men enticed the pizza delivery guy to the Sycamore Shadows Apartment complex in Mesa, Arizona. The two men, 18-year-old Michael Dornan, and 23-year-old Michael Le-Andre, cornered the delivery guy near an empty apartment and insisted that he give them the pizzas and wings he was delivering.

As the delivery guy reached into his bag to pull out the pizza and wings, Dornan admittedly hit him over the head with a coffee pot, snatched the food, and ran. Continue Reading

Matteo’s Red Headed Step Sauce Review

Matteo’s Red Headed Step Sauce is truly a one-of-a-kind tasting hot sauce. Greenish brown in color, infused with large chunks of ingredients, and easily pourable, Red Headed Step Sauce is like salsa in a bottle.

The ingredients include tomato juice, roasted jalpeno peppers, red wine vinegar, onions, carrots, lime juice, red chili peppers, garlic, and olive oil. Don’t let the inclusion of two types of peppers fool you, though. Red Headed Step Sauce is extremely mild with a fresh taste. While you won’t be using it to heat anything up, it will make an enjoyable addition to chip dip or any Mexican cosine. Continue Reading

Hooters 3 Mile Island Wing Sauce Review

Hooters 3 Mile Island Wing Sauce is a hot combination of pepper ingredients that include aged red cayenne peppers, aged red Tabasco peppers, jalapeno peppers, and aged habanero peppers. While this sauce isn’t going to burn any holes in your tongue, it’s quite a bit hotter than the original Hooters Wing Sauce.

Hooters 3 Mile Island is a classic wing sauce with an appealing flavor and enough heat to warm your lips and keep them that way. There’s a bit of a heavy vinegar overtone to the sauce, but it disappears in the cooking process, leaving behind a peppery heat. Continue Reading

Hot Sauce Can Cheer You Up?

Chilli peppers and hot sauces are renowned for its powerful antioxidant and pain-relieving properties. In addition, they work well in the deterrence of colds, flu and other germ-related ailments. Study’s also show that they may work against cancer, among other diseases. All this because of capsaicin, the active ingredient that puts the “hot” in hot pepper.

But capsaicin also makes peppers a powerful mood improving substance, and for the identical reason it is such an effective painkiller: because it triggers the release of endorphins.

In view of its many benefits, it would be a good idea to add hot sauce or peppers to your diet. Continue Reading

Bone Suckin’ Barbecue Sauce Review

Bone Suckin’ BBQ Sauce comes in a jar with a white label. It looks like it was packaged in grandpa’s basement, and it tastes like it too. That’s a good thing, though. With ingredients like tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, honey, mustard, molasses, horseradish, lemon juice, onions, garlic, peppers, and hickory smoke, it looks like it could be something grandpa whipped up as well. Speaking of onions, the sauce is loaded with bits of onion that you can chew, which adds a great texture to the smooth, almost syrupy texture, due in large part to the honey and molasses.

Bone Suckin’ BBQ Sauce has a good down-home quality about it that makes it not only a thoroughly enjoyable Continue Reading

  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until carrots are soft.
  3. Place the mixture and raw chiles into a blender and puree until smooth.

Wake the Fuck Up Coffe Review

Wake the Fuck up Coffee isn’t Starbucks or Seattle’s Best coffee. It isn’t gourmet coffee. This is a coffee with one purpose, which is to wake you up. As the name implies, it is a high-octane blend of coffee beans that have an extra-high caffeine content.

I stumbled out of bed at eleven o’clock in the morning on the day my bag of Wake the Fuck up Coffee happened to arrive. By default, I need a full pot of coffee to even begin my day. That’s just the way it has always been. These days, I typically start the morning with a full-sized coffee cup of espresso, so it takes a pretty mean normal coffee to get my eyes pried open. My adorable wife had a pot of Wake the Fuck up Coffee brewing for me before my feet hit the floor. Continue Reading

Pepper Pain Relief a New Class of PainKillers

Research directed by a scientist at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center has opened the door for the development of a new class of painkillers, called TRPV1 antagonists.

These drugs block the transient receptor potential vannilloid-1 (TRPV1) channel, which is the same receptor accountable for the feeling of hotness from hot peppers. However, clinical trials have revealed that TRPV1 antagonists cause hyperthermia– an unsafe, fever-like rise in body temperature.

Research has shown that TRPV1 can be activated by numerous stimuli, including “pepper-like” chemicals, high temperatures and protons. The same channel is to blame for pain caused by these diverse stimuli. For a number of years scientists have focused on the advance of TRPV1 antagonists, but have been stymied by the unsafe hyperthermia side effect. Continue Reading

Toxic Waste Hot Sauce Review

Okay, so there wasn’t a whole lot of thinking going on this morning. I opened a bottle of Toxic Waste Hot Sauce, thinking I wanted to scramble some eggs and add a healthy dose of hot sauce to the mix. What chili head doesn’t love a shot of heat with his eggs?

The problem is, I don’t think well before I have at least a pot of coffee in me, and I hadn’t had my first cup yet, so I had no business playing with the Toxic Waste Hot Sauce. The scrambled eggs were in the pan. I was about to add the Toxic Waste, but before I did, I poured a quarter-size shot on a spoon and put it in my mouth. I wasn’t thinking, like I said, or the name Toxic Waste might have warned me. Continue Reading
