Making Chili Infused Olive Oil

Save some time in the kitchen and make your own chili infused olive oil.  This is great to use in soups, stews and other foods that you are preparing. It would also add a wonderful flavor to meats that need a bit of oil coating before barbecuing.   It is super simple and the taste is amazing.

There are two different methods that you can try out.  The first one uses roasted chilis of any kind.  Wash and dry two chili peppers and then cut off the stem and remove the seeds and membranes. Brush the entire chili pepper with some olive oil and place them onto a baking sheet. Roast them in preheated 400 degree oven until their skins blacken and blister. Remove them from the oven and let them cool for 15 minutes. Gently remove the skins and cut the roasted chili peppers into strips. If your olive oil bottle has enough room inside it for the peppers go ahead and add them to the purchased bottle of olive oil. If not, pour some olive oil into a clean glass jar and place your pepper slices inside it and close the lid tightly. Let it sit for at least 48 hours before using.

The second method requires 3-4 hot chilis, like the red Thai peppers.  Just wash and dry them well and add them into your olive oil and let it sit for several weeks. The longer the oil and pepper infuses the more chili flavor you will get.  You can remove the peppers by straining them out if you prefer.

You can do this with garlic and many other flavors. Just experiment a bit and you will have some amazing flavored oils that will make your foods pop with fabulous taste!
