Makers Mark Gourmet Sauce Review
Makers Mark Gourmet Sauce – This is a hand crafted sauce with Maker’s Mark Bourbon as its foundation. The ingredient list in this sauce is extensive, with everything finding its place. Pineapple, applesauce, raisins, anchovies, tomato paste, molasses, chili peppers, garlic, onion, salt, cloves, tamarind, paprika, and shallots are just some of the ingredients.
Makers Mark Gourmet Sauce label calls this a gourmet sauce and that’s right on the money. It’s extremely thick, rich, and full of flavor. The bourbon stands out, but it doesn’t overpower the rest of the flavors, giving this sauce a well-balanced personality.
While you could certainly use this as a barbecue sauce, Maker’s Mark isn’t billed as a barbecue sauce, and its uses are more far reaching. I used it as a steak sauce with filet mignon wrapped in bacon. The sauce complimented the tender cut of beef, and because of the thickness of Makers Mark Gourmet Sauce, it was perfect for dipping steak. Now, there are a lot of steak lovers that would have a fit about my dipping such a beautiful cut of meat into a sauce, but trust me, one taste would change their minds. Maker’s Mark really is that good.
Other uses for this sauce include baked chicken breast, hamburgers on the grill, and kabobs. I love the way the chunky pieces of ingredients cling to the meat to deliver flavor that blends well with the smooth bourbon overtones of Makers Mark Gourmet Sauce.
Makers Mark Gourmet Sauce is one of those sauces that reach into the realm of art. The care that goes into making this sauce is evident with every drop that comes out of the bottle. My only complaint is that I wish the sauce was slightly easier to poor, only because it’s so good I don’t want to have to work to get at it. If you’re looking for a well-balanced blend of spices, fruits, and enough chili peppers to add a slight warmth, Makers Mark Gourmet Sauce is on target.
