Kick Butt Chili Lime Rub – This is an awesome rub. The weather in Georgia has been great for barbecue. If there’s one thing my family loves to do, it’s step outside and grill up some great meat products. We eat the good stuff too, so if we’re going to put something on it, it has to measure up. A good rub should not cover up the flavor of good steak, ribs, chicken, or fish. It should enhance.

Kick Butt Chili Lime Rub does just that. I have only one complaint and I’ll get that out of the way first. There could have been a slight bit less salt and a little more lime, but hey, that might just be me. I like the taste of lime, and believe me, it’s in here. Along with the lime comes a dose of chili powder (for the kick in Kick Butt), brown sugar, salt, garlic, onion, and tomato powder.

Sunday barbecue dinner: ribs, hamburgers, potato salad, cole slaw, and some Kick Butt Chili Lime Rub. I let my brother-in-law apply the rub while I blended some barbecue sauce. He threw the ribs in the oven for fifteen minutes just to let them warm up and absorb the rub, then out to the barbecue grill they went.

Everybody loved the ribs. The flavor of this rub really complements the meat. It isn’t overpowering (even with the salt). The ribs were juicy and dripping with flavor. I’m not even sure anybody used the barbecue sauce. When a rub is as good as Kick Butt Chili Lime Rub, no sauce is necessary. This is truly the kind of balance you should look for when you select a rub for your barbecue. If it doesn’t deliver the way this Kick Butt does, with bold taste that brings out the natural flavor of the meat, don’t bother.
