Irish Scream BBQ Sauce – I love the barbecue wars. I really do. Every time you turn around, there’s a new sauce that claims to be the winner of several awards. Sometimes the claims are accurate and the titles are well deserved. Sometimes they aren’t. At any rate, these barbecue wars result in some extremely delicious sauces.
Irish Scream BBQ Sauce is one of those sauces. Okay, so I’m Irish. I was probably going to love this sauce from the word go. I say probably, because if it had been one of those boring sauces that claim to be something special, I would have tossed it out on its butt. I didn’t need to worry about that, though, because my gut instinct about this sauce was on the money. It’s a top of the line barbecue sauce that combines a light heat level with a powerful taste factor that had me coming back for more.
The ingredients here include tomatoes, vinegar, anchovies, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic, hickory smoke, tamarind, cayenne chili peppers, and assorted other herbs and seasonings that all play a role in the flavor characteristics of Irish Scream BBQ Sauce. The big deal, though — the thing that gives this sauce the kick that makes your taste buds sit up and take notice — is the inclusion of genuine Irish whiskey. The luck of the Irish is with you when you crack this bottle open and paint it over your ribs, steaks, pork, or any other meat you want to slap on the grill.
You don’t have to be Irish to dig Irish Scream BBQ Sauce. The pour is medium, it cooks up nicely and clings to the food, and it’s got a smooth smoky sweetness with just the right bite of cayenne and whiskey to put a smile on your face.
