Homemade Mexican Salsa Recipe

I don’t think there are many foods that a good old fashioned homemade Mexican salsa would not taste great on.  Ok, well maybe cereal, but I am sure there are people out there that may have tried that.  A traditional Mexican Salsa is a great on so many different foods and having a good recipe you can fall back on it good too.  Here is a homemade recipe that you and your family are going to enjoy time and time again.

Chunky Mexican salsa, like this recipe makes, is also called Pico de Gallo and it can be used as a dipping salsa or use it as a marinade for fish or chicken. Great served with Tortilla chips as an appetizer or topping for nachos, potatoes, eggs and more.

Homemade Mexican Salsa Recipe

3 large red tomatoes, chopped
1 large onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup fresh Cilantro, finely chopped
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 large Jalapeno peppers, chopped
1 avocado, peeled and chopped
hot sauce to taste

Place all of the ingredients in a blender container or food processor. Give the button a few pushes to just mix up the ingredients and to chop them up a little more. If you want a smooth salsa, process on medium speed for 1-2 minutes. We like ours chunky so we only use the blender to chop & mix it up a little more. Place container into the refrigerator to chill for 4 hours before serving. This allows the flavors to blend together.
