Predator Great White Shark Hot Sauce Review

Let me tell you one thing about Great White Shark Predator Hot Sauce: if there’s a hotter sauce than this on the market, I don’t want to know about it. This sauce flat out caused me pain.

As fearsome as the “Jaws”-inspired illustration of a Great White on the label, this sauce is the first of the “one drop at a time” sauces I’ve seen that actually comes with a plastic do-hicky in the mouth of the bottle that ensures the product comes out only one drop at a time. This is an important safety feature you should not take for granted. I was thankful after tasting one drop that the sample was as small as it was, because otherwise I would have been a victim of a true shark attack.

I knew from the warnings on the label and the dreaded word “extract” on the list of ingredients that Great White Shark Predator would be a very hot sauce, but I also thought that the overall makeup of the concoction would temper the heat a bit. I was wrong. Even though wine vinegar is the first ingredient, and a fruit salad of tomato (yes, it is a fruit), pineapple, papaya, banana, and “real fruit juices” round out the flavor with a robust sweetness, the heat of the habanero peppers and the “superior pepper extract” make this one very dangerous sauce.

I’ll be honest, I couldn’t even try Great White Shark Predator Hot Sauce on food. After my standard one-drop-on-my-finger tasting, I was in such pain and the heat had caused such a reaction in my throat that I developed a severe case of hiccups, that I simply couldn’t consume any more of it. I have no doubt that adding a little – a LITTLE – to soups or stews or chili would bring wonderful heat and maybe even some of that fruity sweetness would come out and complement the dish. But that will have to wait for another day. It’s like when the movie Jaws came out: one you’ve experienced it, it takes a while before you feel comfortable going back in the water.
