Choke You Chicken Peri-Peri Hot Sauce Review

Hello Chili heads and fellow BBQers extraordinaire!

It’s that time of year again where we look forward to that special day.  It’s the day that we stuff ourselves (oops, I mean the turkey) to the point of exploding and then we are barbequing, baking, or frying it to perfection. Right now, some weirdoes out there are probably reading this and asking themselves, “What about boiling it?” As for “Atomic Eh?” I’ll say this once…I don’t boil meat! It’s all about the BBQ baby! Mrs. Eh? is reminded by my introduction of her great Grandmother boiling chicken with the skin on and then serving it up-yuck! Not my kind of chicken but I will say this, Insanechicken.com has sent me one of their insane sauces.

It’s called:

Insane Chicken’s “Choke your Chicken” Peri Peri Sauce

This sauce is crazy looking and hilarious!

Label/Sauce Appearance

I love the label. It has someone holding their arm out and strangling the #@! out of a chicken. (No, it’s not what you thought it might be!) This sauce can definitely be used in public and by the list of peppers in the ingredients…I’ll just say, “Watch out” This stuff is going to be hot and “atomic”. The sauce has Peri Peri Peppers as one of the first few ingrediants. This is Africa’s hottest pepper. The other pepper that is listed are Jalapeno Peppers. This I imagine is mostly for taste where as the concentrated Pepper extract is added simply for searing “atomic” heat. This stuff is gonna be blistering hot! This bottle says, “It is a sauce that will have you panting, pleading, and calling out for mercy. But you will not find any from this bottle.” They go on to say that no actual chickens were choked to make this product!  The sauce looks inviting once I get past the initial fear that came as a result of reading the ingredients! It’s thick with a reddish/brown color and there are visible spices floating in the sauce. Looks good enough to eat!

Insanechicken.com was originally established in 2003 and has three gourmet sauces as well as many, many others that they distribute. This is one and the other two are Fire Roasted Habanero Hot Sauce and ‘Cluckin’ Hot Ghost Pepper Sauce. These sauces are not for the faint at heart. They are great to collect. As well as eat Good for gifts and even better to consume…if you dare! I would consider these to be food additives. They are far hotter then what I might put on my food. So I have tried the other two and you can check out my comments on their site if you would like. As for me, it’s now time to indulge in a little “self torture” and try this sauce.

Flavor/Smell

As I open this bottle I can’t help but wonder if this is going to be as hot as I think it will be. It smells of taco seasoning, but definitely has something lurking subtly in the background. It smells sweet and maybe just a hint of extract. Overall it smells enticing. It makes me hungry just smelling it. Lets see what the taste is going to do for me!

I poured some out on a chip. It has a sweet taste and has some definite “atomic” heat. Wow! This sauce is definitely interesting. I honestly thought that it would be hellfire in a bottle. Okay, one chip didn’t kill me…lets line up a couple more! My tongue now feels like it has a mild acid burn on it. I love it! This sauce taste pretty good with chips. I accidently dropped some on my tabletop and I now think I will have to refinish it tomorrow. So the heat in my mouth is building. I haven’t yet run screaming for the milk, but this sauce is hot.  I’ve got a nice little brow sweat going on after three chips…man! This is some fun stuff. When obtaining this product you might want to keep it out of reach of children…it’s hot and not for the faint of heart. But for you chili heads out there, buy it up! Christmas is coming and if you don’t have anyone to send one to then send one to me cause I like it.

Heat Level

The heat is definitely there. This sauce packs a wallop! Insanechicken.com knows their stuff. If you like it hot and you like it spicy then contact Chris…he will hook you up. What’s nice about this sauce is that it burns like an extract sauce, but doesn’t have that nasty chemical taste. There is a faint hint of the red wine and spice before the heat comes on. It’s deceiving because, at first, I thought that it was not going to have much heat. But after the third and fourth try, I had a new found respect for it. The heat kept growing! A lot of sauces will have heat that reaches a level and then plateaus but I not reached one with Insane Chicken’s Choke Your Chicken Sauce.

Conclusion

So in conclusion, I would say that this is a very hot extract sauce that has a pretty good taste to it and that is guaranteed to wake up your day. I would give it a 5 out of five for label design. For the sauce taste and heat level I would give it a four to five range. It taste good and it’s hot! When I ate it straight off the spoon; well I am not shamed to say…it brought a little moisture to my eyes. For records sake I will say tears of joy! Thanks Insanechicken.com for hooking me up with this sauce…I hope you have enough for everyone else. Don’t stop doing what you do.

So this is “Atomic Eh?” telling you about another fun sauce that will definitely heat you up for the winter months.

Keep it Hot and keep it Spicy!

Enjoy!
