Mango Peach Tango Hot Sauce Review

Mango Peach Tango Baby!
Rock n roll has been around for a long time and spicy food has been developed and consumed with a passion for a lot longer. Both of these are important to my family and me. Everywhere I go, it seems like there is music and great food is to be appreciated. While some choose to agonize over politics or global warming, I, on the other hand, have a desire to spend my time on the more comforting things in life like family, food, and good ole rock n roll. When I can combine all these, … Continue Reading

Buzrub Mild BBQ Rub Review

alt=Buzrub BBQ Rub (Mild) – This is the perfect companion to Famous Buzrub. There are no ingredients listed here, but my taste buds do detect some of the basic spices, along with some not-so-traditional additions. The exact blend is kept under wraps, so I won’t risk getting it wrong by trying to guess. Let me just say that I taste a hint of something tropical in there, along with a mild peppery flavor. There’s also some very sweet notes. Point is, this is a beautiful, balanced blend of a variety of herbs and spices that will look and taste good on any protean your little heart desires putting it on. It’s a great steak, chicken, pork, rib, or even seafood rub. In fact, this one is especially nice on seafood.

The soulmate to this rub is the “Famous” Buzrub. It’s got a little more fire and a little less tropical. Both of the rubs are useful, each in its own way. Continue Reading

Wake The Fuck Up Coffee Review

Wake the Fuck Up Coffee – An unsettlingly large portion or my high school years were spent slumped, asleep on my desk. I’d roll out of bed, walk to school in my pajamas, find my homeroom and do my best to pretend that I was still in bed until lunchtime. All this could have been avoided if I’d only had a cup of Wake the Fuck Up Coffee in the morning.

Full disclosure: I’m not much of a coffee drinker so I brought in a local expert… coffee addict to help guide this review. Wake the Fuck Up Coffee comes in relatively normal packaging– a black foil lined bag that insures freshness. The label includes a drawing of a seriously caffeinated man and says the coffee will “put some lead into your pencil.” Continue Reading

Quaker Steak & Lube Louisiana Lickers Sauce Review

Quaker Steak & Lube Louisiana Lickers Sauce – You don’t know me, but I’m a big guy and I like big flavors. When I first saw Quaker Steak & Lube Louisiana Lickers Sauce, I liked it for two reasons: it has a big name and it comes in a big bottle. Then I saw on the label that the sauce won some Best Wings USA competition. I was intrigued, but wings aren’t big enough for me, so I decided I would make some buffalo drumsticks.

Now, for classic buffalo wings, you want to mix your cayenne hot sauce with butter. Louisiana Lickers takes care of that for you. Actually, it’s margarine, but it’s still surprising to find that as a hot sauce ingredient. Continue Reading

Wake the Fuck Up! Extra Strong Coffee Review

Wake the Fuck Up! Extra Strong Coffee - The first thing to note is that Wake the Fuck Up Coffee may indeed be mega-caffeinated, but it’s not spicy. You may think that because it’s sold by Insane Chicken that there are bits of dried habaneros among the drip ground coffee beans, but no, this is about getting your heart racing rather than your lips burning (unless, of course, you forget to blow on it before drinking it).

The second thing to note is that coffee is hard to review Continue Reading

BBQ’N Fools Signature Seasoning Review

BBQ’N Fools Signature Seasoning- This is a spicy seasoning useful as a rub and especially good in soups and chili. The basics of the mix include salt, paprika, red bell peppers, green onions, onions, garlic, and an assortment of spices that give BBQ’N Fools Signature Seasoning it’s pleasing personality. Since BBQ’N Fools makes a great tasting BBQ’N Fools barbecue sauce, I wasn’t surprised the seasoning measured up.

While I did try it on steaks in the broiler and pork steaks on the grill, my big surprise came when I used it to season a bowl of chili. Continue Reading

Cowtown Sweet Spot BBQ Rub Review

Cowtown Sweet Spot BBQ Rub – Cowtown barbecue sauce is one of the finer barbecue sauces on the market, with a true Kansas City barbecue flavor that any barbecue fan will dig. It’s only natural to have a Kansas City Cowtown barbecue rub to go with it. Any rub that insinuates it can deliver the taste of Kansas City style barbecue better deliver. This one does. Not only does it deliver, it delivers big.

There’s sugar, salt, spices, Worcestershire sauce powder, tamarind, paprika, and a set of spices in Cowtown Sweet Spot BBQ Rub that were meant to be rubbed on your meat. Seriously, this is a rub you can apply straight to the meat before you throw it on the grill. Continue Reading

Kick Butt Chili Lime Rub Review

Kick Butt Chili Lime Rub – This is an awesome rub. The weather in Georgia has been great for barbecue. If there’s one thing my family loves to do, it’s step outside and grill up some great meat products. We eat the good stuff too, so if we’re going to put something on it, it has to measure up. A good rub should not cover up the flavor of good steak, ribs, chicken, or fish. It should enhance.

Kick Butt Chili Lime Rub does just that. I have only one complaint and I’ll get that out of the way first. There could have been a slight bit less salt and a little more lime, but hey, that might just be me. I like the taste of lime, and believe me, it’s in here. Along with the lime comes a dose of chili powder (for the kick in Kick Butt), brown sugar, salt, garlic, onion, and tomato powder. Continue Reading

Mary’s Cherry Rub Review

Mary’s Cherry Rub – I was excited to try this rub. The first thing I did was rub it into some t-bone steaks and throw the steaks in the broiler. I didn’t add any other flavorings because I wanted to taste how this cherry rub worked on its own. The ingredients include sugar, brown sugar, dehydrated onion, garlic, ancho peppers, smoke flavoring, and cherry flavoring. The tempting aroma that wafted from the oven as the steak sizzled away with this stuff on it made my stomach growl in anticipation.

I wasn’t as pleased with the taste Mary’s Cherry Rub on the t-bone as I thought I would be. To be fair, though, my mother-in-law loved it and so did my wife. Continue Reading

Peppers Zesty Blue Crab Salsa Review

Peppers Zesty Blue Crab Salsa – This is truly one of the most individual salsa I’ve tried in a long time. When I first saw it, I had my reservations. Combining crab meat in salsa was something I’d never seen done before. Not saying it hasn’t been done — just that it was a little different than anything I’d ever seen. One taste was all it took to hook me, though I would venture to say this salsa won’t be for everybody. It definitely falls into the acquired taste category.

Check out these ingredients. First, the blue crab. I really expected no more than a hint of crab meat. Crab is expensive and blue crab is one of the more expensive varieties. Continue Reading

Wake the Fuck Up Coffe Review

Wake the Fuck up Coffee isn’t Starbucks or Seattle’s Best coffee. It isn’t gourmet coffee. This is a coffee with one purpose, which is to wake you up. As the name implies, it is a high-octane blend of coffee beans that have an extra-high caffeine content.

I stumbled out of bed at eleven o’clock in the morning on the day my bag of Wake the Fuck up Coffee happened to arrive. By default, I need a full pot of coffee to even begin my day. That’s just the way it has always been. These days, I typically start the morning with a full-sized coffee cup of espresso, so it takes a pretty mean normal coffee to get my eyes pried open. My adorable wife had a pot of Wake the Fuck up Coffee brewing for me before my feet hit the floor. Continue Reading
