Anchor Bar Hot Wing Sauce

Seems hard to believe that one of our favorite foods has been around since 1964! The Buffalo Chicken Wing has become a staple in our homes and restaurants since it was invented at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York.  Their original sauce is a combination of Cayenne peppers, distilled vinegar, liquid margarine, salt, spices and garlic which gives it a nice spicy kick which you can cool off in a dip of bleu cheese on the side.  A classic Buffalo Chicken Wing.

Today chicken wings have taken on a whole new passion with many and the Anchor Bar hot wing sauce is keeping up with the changes.  Including the  original recipe, you can now find the Anchor Bar Hot Wing Sauce in Mild, Medium, Hotter, Suicide, Barbecue, Sweet and Sour, several of which we offer right here at Insane Chicken.

Blair’s Death Rain Cajun Seasoning Review

I could make this review very short by simply stating that Blair’s Death Rain Cajun Seasoning is the best chile pepper-based seasoning I’ve ever tasted. But I’ll reveal more. It’s worth it.

First of all, if it says Blair on the label, you know two things: it’s going to be good and it’s going to be hot. And Death Rain is definitely good and hot – and this is the medium version, too, though the label still says “Warning!” This delightful, burnt-sienna-colored spice blend is composed of cayenne pepper, garlic, onion, paprika, salt, celery seed, rosemary, oregano, turmeric, and sage. Clearly, this mix is a foodie’s dream, delivering not just good heat but also a blend of delightful flavors that you’d probably want on your food anyway. Continue Reading

Wicked Cactus Head Hunter’s Paradise Hot Sauce

Wicked Cactus hand-crafts its sauces in small batches to ensure quality, freshness, and heat. They do not disappoint. Case in point: Head Hunter’s Paradise Hot Sauce, a fine concoction of pineapple, apple cider vinegar, smoked habanero, oranges, red bell pepper, salt, and spices.

With all that fruit, I doubted whether the habaneros would come through in force, and especially the unique smoked flavor. But as I said, it did not disappoint. Wonderfully thick and chunky, Head Hunter’s Paradise is both sweet and savory, hot and fruity, and decidedly smoky. Salsa-like in consistency, it had more the feel of a very spicy barbecue sauce than a table condiment. But frankly, it could serve just as well in either capacity. Continue Reading
