Cabbage Soup with Hot Sauce Recipe

Garden fresh veggies taste so wonderful and with the gardens starting to produce their delicious goods, there is always a need for fabulous recipes.  Here is a delicious soup recipe that uses cabbage with hot sauce that our pepper and heat lovers are going to enjoy.

This easy recipe combines the healthy cabbages with spinach and ground beef along with some delightful hot sauce for a great tasting filling soup that will satisfy your spice cravings and fill you up.  Enjoy!

Cabbage Soup with Hot Sauce Recipe

3 1/2 lbs. green cabbage, shredded
2 1/2 cups red cabbage, shredded
1 1/2 cups spinach, chopped
1 cup carrots, shredded or finely diced
1 1/2 lbs. lean ground beef, fully cooked and drained
1/2 cup water
32 ounce can tomato sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/4 to 1/3 cup hot sauce (depending on how much heat you would like)
1/4 cup beef broth (stock)
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1-2 teaspoons salt
1-2 teaspoons ground black pepper

In a large kettle, combine together the green cabbage, red cabbage, spinach, carrots, water, cooked ground beef and tomato sauce. Simmer all of the ingredients over medium heat for 25-30 minutes. Stir in the brown sugar, lemon juice, hot sauce, beef broth, onion, salt and ground black pepper. Simmer again for an additional 20 minutes or until done.
